While I waited to open a new account at a neighborhood bank I sat in a chair next to a wading pool filled with sand and beach toys. There was some kind of theme going on and the kids liked it more than the adults. There are two banks near my house, one was actually offering toasters with a new account and the other one is more in the path of my driving home, plus it's next to my favorite grocery store. I chose that one.

By pouplar request, more images of the bottom half. It's interesting to me how I can see personality in the legs and feet of people. There are subtle gestures and clothing choices.

Bird's eye view of the mud nest location.

There is a mud nest on the porch of my friends in New Jersey and today the chicks started making a racket. I'm glad a nest in my adopted sister city has come to a happy conclusion.

A spark of conciousness traveling through the levels of dreams and dreamless sleep.

Infamous hotel in the tenderloin, now burned out, still had the furniture hanging off the walls.

The most unusual tree I've seen lately and a shade tree or the shade of a tree on a wall. I'd like to paint these along a wall.

Traffic on the ground. Thinking of ways to photograph people without getting their faces.

This is a deceptive image. It appears calm but the city is hectic and there is constant construction going on in this part of town. A whole new community of towers has risen in China Basin and there is more going up.

You deserve to have a good time after a hard day's work, your leadership talents will bring you prosperity. The softest voice sometimes carries the most power, tell the people you love how much they mean to you. You will have many loves in life but only one true love, you have a slow and unhurried natural rythm. Discontent is the first step in a man of reason or a nation and the philosophy of one century is the common sense of the next. You will relive an enlightening experience and you will soon receive an unusual gift. Soon someone new will become a very dear friend, versatility is one of your outstanding traits. The way to love anything is to realize it might be lost and your present plans are going to succeed. You will die destitute at the ripe old age of 94, he who laughs last laughs best of all. (messages from the Universe)

Every couple weeks for the past few years I walk up the street and around the corner to my favorite Chinese restaurant. There was a vacant building next door for a long time and when it finally opened it was a Chinese restaurant, right next door to my favorite Chinese restaurant. On the next block up a bank was being remodeled behind a temporary chain link fence. Someone put up a sign: future location of the third Chinese restaurant on Capitola Road. I sensed mild panic in the neighborhood and the restaurant and wondered if one or both of the places would close but both have survived. I have remained loyal and walk past the new place on my way to a mountain of asparagus and chicken in black bean sauce.

I take fortune cookies very seriously, they are synchronistic messages from the benevolent universe and I save them all in a bronze vessel. The most powerful cookie I ever received was the empty one I got last month. It was such an anomaly I photographed it. It's like getting a letter from a very important person and all it contains is a blank sheet of paper.

There was a Rennaisance Fair in the village yesterday. Lots of cleavage which I guess was a novelty at that time. You can put an apple in there too with a bite taken out of it. My good man my eyes are up here upon my head.

View from UCSF Medical, actually around the back at the vision center. I see a lot of people who don't wear glasses at these places, they are getting Lasik which I can't get. It sort of amuses me to go to these huge building compounds knowing that all their technology can't do anything for my eyes.

The tunnel that leads to Cannery Row and the Monterey Plaza Hotel is 110 miles and an hour and a half from the San Francisco Airport. If you're leaving at 1130pm have a small coffee for the boring trip down 101.

Strawberry fields forever...this doesn't really capture the vastness of the strawberries that blanket the rolling hills west of Watsonville. The mounds are covered in plastic and the berries are planted in holes. The plastic holds the pesticide in and keeps the leaves from getting too wet. The growers were supposed to be phasing out the use of methyl bromide and a state judge issued something about that last year but I don't know if they still use it. The yield will go down, workers will be paid less per hour and volume, and strawberries will be more expensive. But toxic poisons won't be used near homes and schools and people won't get sick from it. Good berries are worth the extra money.

My sister Di and her daughter Lindsay are on the AIDS Lifecycle 7 day bike trek from SF to LA. Di was a block from my place this morning having coffee so I walked over to see her. She rode a few rides and now is on the sweep team that picks up stranded riders. The ride is huge this year, over 2700 people.

Sometimes while waiting for people at the airport I wander around and capture imagery. One of these days Homeland Security is going to consficate my phone and shut down this blog.
